Research Interests:
Dr. Kashyap directs the nutritional support of the infants
in our unit. She is also responsible for executing a number
of detailed protocols for studies of both parenteral and enteral
nutrition. At present, she is working on a large study concerning
the effects of protein and energy intake on the growth and
body composition of the enterally fed infant. This study utilizes
sophisticated measurements of anthropometry, biochemistry,
macronutrient and mineral balances, energetics and body composition
to determine the effects of differences in the dietary intake
of protein and energy on the growth and development of the
low birth weight infant.
